Scam Likely’s Merch Madness

This Monday on Dec. 18th we received the unexpected news that our merchandise partner, Second City Prints, had suddenly ceased operations, laid off their entire staff, and had their accounts frozen by their creditors. You can read all about it in this Billboard article. This was definitely not what we meant when we wished for a collab with Mitski and Carly Rae Jepsen!

All in-progress orders or preorders will NOT be delivered. We advise all affected customers to contact your financial institution to dispute the charge. We’ve been assured SCP will not decline chargeback requests for unshipped orders. If you do run into issues, please contact us at community@dungeonsanddaddies.com so we can work directly with you to find a solution.

In the meantime, our store is temporarily shut down. We have managed to resecure our inventory and have shipped it to a new warehouse. We plan to re-open in due time, but will need several months to onboard a new merch fulfillment partner.

Obviously, this sucks - especially since it’s right before the holiday season. We plan on making this right however we can. When the store is back, we plan to hold an exclusive pre-sale for customers affected should they still wish to make a purchase. We are also offering affected customers a permanent 25% off discount code on future orders.

Thank you to our incredible community for your patience and understanding as we learned how to navigate this unprecedented situation. People like y’all make this work worth doing. We are wishing all of you a wonderful holiday season and a Happy Honda-days. Our thoughts are especially with the 150 people who were laid off by SCP unexpectedly - you deserved so much more than that and we are sending you and your families love and light.

We’re here to help. Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or thoughts. We have answers to common FAQs below for your convenience.

FAQs

  • If it were within our power, we would automatically refund every customer affected. Unfortunately the accounts lie with SCP, but they cannot process refunds any longer due to frozen accounts.

The best course of action is to dispute the fraudulent charge through your bank or credit card. We believe this is the only way you’ll get your money back. We’ve been assured that SCP will not deny these requests for unshipped orders. If you run into any issues, please contact us at community@dungeonsanddaddies.com and we will work with you directly to figure out a solution.

  • After our merch store is set up - which will likely be several months from now - we hope to hold an exclusive pre-sale for the customers affected by this merch issue. That way, you'll hopefully have your money back, and if you still really want the items you can reserve them before we notify the general public.

Nothing is set in stone yet as it’s still very early planning stages, but this is our goal!

  • We’re sorry to say that all items have been affected by SCP’s foreclosure. Our store has temporarily shut down while we work to move our inventory and find a new partner for merch operations. It will take a long time before we can get a new store up and running. Until the new store is operational, no more deliveries will be made.

  • No, disputing the charge will not affect your order status. We recommend you chargeback as soon as you can. Because SCP is heading towards bankruptcy, we believe this is the only way you'll get your money back. Basically - this should be a cut and dry fraud case from the financial institution’s perspective. The company that you purchased a good from went bankrupt before they could deliver the good to you.

  • Each financial institution has different procedures for handling their dispute processes. Generally speaking, you can file a dispute report online via your bank or credit card’s website or mobile application. However, you can also call the bank directly using the number on the back of your card to get help from an associate.

If you used PayPal, this guide explains best how to dispute the fraudulent charge.

  • As mentioned above, every financial institution will have different procedures on how to handle a dispute but some key items you will want to have on hand are:

    - Your name

    - Transaction Date

    - Transaction Charge

    - Name of Transaction (likely SCP MERCHANDISING LLC)

    - If you have previously tried to resolve this with SCP (if not you can submit a ticket via their help desk and use the automated email as your statement of proof. If by the time you file this chargeback this website does not exist or has a landing page, explain this to your financial institution at this time)

    - Your order number/email receipt (if you have not received one, you can point directly to the official SCP website which currently has a landing page mentioning the bankruptcy)

Also be sure to ask what the timeline for your request will look like and provide your financial institution with your information to follow up. It is a good idea to take notes at this point and ask if you have any other next steps you will need to take.

If the bank requires further proof, we suggest this Billboard article outlining the situation.

  • This varies depending on the financial instutition. On paper, it can take up to 90 days for the company to process your dispute, made a decision, and return the funds to the original account. Sometimes this happens much faster. We recommend asking your bank for an estimated timeline.

  • This Billboard article confirms that SCP - the merch company responsible - laid off their staff, shuttered operations, had their financial accounts frozen, and went out of business whilst still in control of client’s unfulfilled merchandise.

If that doesn’t work, you could try sending along this webpage… but we wouldn’t bet on a bank finding a site from “Dungeons & Daddies” more legitimate than a Billboard article.

Finally, you can always reach out to us at community@dungeonsanddaddies.com. We’re happy to help however we can - if they need an email from us, all you need to do is ask.

  • We’re keeping a sublist of the customers affected who used their Elite coupon codes in the order. It will take several months, but once our store is set up again, we’ll be able to distribute new coupons for the items that weren’t delivered to you. We’ll also hold an exclusive pre-sale for the affected customers so they have a chance to get their merch before the general public is informed.

  • If your unfulfilled order was purchased in part or in full via an SCP store gift card, don’t worry! We intend to issue you a new gift card at our new merch store once it opens.
